Port of Oldenburg

The seaport of Oldenburg is situated on the intersection of the maritime waterway Hunte and the inland waterway Kόstenkanal (coastal canal) and is regarded as an important major traffic junction in the north-west of Germany. In the port of Oldenburg an average of 1.2 million tons a year are transshipped making it one of the busiest inner ports by cargo tonnage in Lower Saxony.

Primarily building materials (sand, grit, natural stone and gravel) are transshipped. The percentage of this type of goods amounts to approx. 50% of the total volume of transshipped cargo. The share of agricultural goods such as grain, feeding stuff and fertilizers is approx. 41%. Ocean vessels of up to 4m draught can call at the port of Oldenburg.

The port of Oldenburg has direct access to the German motorway network in both the north to south and west to east direction via the national motorways A 28 and A 29 (exit Oldenburg Hafen). The port is connected via its own rail sidings with the railway network of the Deutsche Bahn AG.
