Port of Brake
The seaport of Brake is situated on the left-hand bank of the river Weser, about 26 km upstream from the estuary. Its distinguishing feature is the more than 2 km long river pier with its state-of-the-art port transshipment and silo facilities for the fast and smooth transshipment of a variety of products.
The main focus of the port lies on the water side of the land protection dyke. The port's own flood protection guarantees safety from storm surge for these port areas. Expandable areas close to the water are available, the location has trimodal traffic links.
In the south, facing toward the city centre, is the Brake inland waterway port with a water area of about 4.4 ha, with approx. 1,000m length of shoreline, used by coasters and inland waterway vessels as well as sports boats. A sea lock with a chamber length of 95m connects the inland waterway port with the Weser.
